New materials are constantly developed for electronics use, but to use new materials it is very important to understand their behaviour in different conditions and their long-term reliability. Polymers are especially challenging materials due to their viscoelastic and temperature-dependent behaviour. Material data sheets often give limited data for this knowledge. Therefore analyzing your materials properly gives security that you really know how materials behave in your application.
We offer several services in materials characterization and consultation in materials selection for demanding applications. We can study different material parameters and their changes, and combine this with with environmental testing to study how different environments affect your material and its stability.

Examples of the possible techniques:
Thermal analysis methods such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermomechanical analysis (TMA). We can measure several parameters such as glass transition temperature (Tg), melting temperature (Tm) coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), curing degree, crystallization, and mechanical moduli values.
Mechanical analysis such as shear, pull, tensile and bending testing to analyze for example adhesion properties or shear strengths of interconnection materials or mechanical stability of a polymer used in casings.
Humidity analyzer can be used to analyze water absorption of materials.
Scanning electron microscopes (SEM) with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) to analyze the morphology and structure of materials and to conduct elemental analysis and chemical characterization.
UV-Vis measurement analyses the absorption of UV and visual light of a sample. It can be used for example to analyse the functionality and long-term reliability of optical adhesives or to study polymers used in organic electronics.
